Founded in 2005 Zephirus is fast becoming one of the most exciting young chamber groups in the country. They combine the best in twentieth century saxophone quartet repertoire with new music and inspired arrangements. Zephirus' recent competition success includes being named joint winners of the Tunnell Trust awards for 2008/9. The award led to a concert tour with Scottish Music Clubs. Zephirus also won the Ensemble Prize at the 2007 Royal Over-Seas League Annual Music Competition, which led to their Queen Elizabeth Hall debut and a Wigmore Hall recital.

Zephirus have performed at festivals including the Cyprus International Music Festival 2006, the Hampton Court Music Festival 2006, the Northern Aldborough Music Festival 2006 and Manningtree Music Festival 2005. All four members play regularly as soloists in major venues in the UK including the Wigmore Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Bridgewater Hall, the Purcell Room and St. Lukes. They have also performed at venues throughout the world including the Margravial Opera House, Bayreuth, the Sydney Opera House and the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. As orchestral musicians they have performed with the Philharmonia, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Britten Sinfonia, Halle Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.
